UKRAINIAN CRISIS

Here at Colchester Militaria we are trying our hardest to support the Ukrainian War Effort - and have been inundated with telephone calls requesting equipment. We currently have no body armour, we are sporadically getting Mk6 and Mk7 helmets in stock. We have a donations bin in the shop for members of the public to donate uniform and equipment to the crisis, this is collected every other week. We ask at this time we only receive military equipment but not perishables.

We are happy to receive equipment from anywhere and this can be posted to us, or dropped off on any Friday or Saturday to our shop in Clacton.

Alternatively you can donate to your nearest drop off centre by goggling your nearest drop off centres. But also make contact with your nearest Army Surplus or militaria for further details.

THE LAW ON DEACTIVATED FIREARMS

For the purposes of the principal Act (Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988) A firearm has been rendered incapable of discharging any shot, bullet or other missile, and has consequently ceased to be a firearm within the meaning of those Acts, if—

(a) it bears a mark which has been approved by the Secretary of State for denoting that fact and which has been made either by one of the two companies mentioned in section 58(1) of the principal Act or by such other person as may be approved by the Secretary of State for the purposes of this section; and

(b) that company or person has certified in writing that work has been carried out on the firearm in a manner approved by the Secretary of State for rendering it incapable of discharging any shot, bullet or

other missile.

Meaning any person is legiable to purchase a dectivated firearm, for the purpose or stage/theatre, reenactment, art, wallhanging. collecting. Colchester Militaria T&C will however apply.

On the 28th June 2018 the European Parliament changed the EU Deactivation Law (including the UK)

The Major Changes are for Bolt Action Rifles, Semi-Auto Pistols and Revolvers. After 28th June, these CANNOT be produced with Dry-Firing or Cycling Actions.

You will still be legally allowed to keep dry-firing actions in your collection after 28th June.

After the 28th June 2018 if you wish to sell, trade, give, transfer etc. a deactivated firearm it must conform to Regulation (EU) 2018/337 and have the appropriate UK issued Proof House Certificate.

Currently Parliament is reviewing legislation around the sending / receiving of bladed articles to your home address. If successful, you will no longer be able to receive your purchases to your home. The lead in this change is MP Victoria Atkins. If you object to this Bill as much as Colchester Militaria does, we ask that you sign the petition to remove collectors from the Bill.
