Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Iron forged crampons used by German WWII Mountain Troops or Gebirgsj„ger. While one can occasionally find an incomplete rusty unmarked pair these are offered in excellent condition and are complete with all steel connection loops and original white straps. We've never encountered a fully complete pair such as these. Very hard to find and a very interesting accessory for any Gebirgsj„ger collection.

Gebirgsj„ger are the light infantry part of the alpine or mountain troops (Gebirgstruppe) of Germany and Austria. The word J„ger (meaning "hunter" or "huntsman") is a characteristic term used for light-infantry or light-infantryman in German-speaking military context.

A crampon is a traction device that is attached to footwear to improve mobility on snow and ice during ice climbing. Not only are crampons used during ice climbing, but they are also used for secure travel on snow and ice, such as crossing glaciers, snowfields and icefields, ascending snow slopes, and scaling ice-covered rock.
