Colchester Militaria is very proud to have been able to supply a number of bullet proof vests and helmets for the film '71.

Following two sell-out screenings at the London Film Festival, ’71 will be released in cinemas across the UK on Friday 10 October. It’s a tense thriller in which the viewer experiences the inferno of bomb-torn Belfast in 1971, as a young British squaddie (Jack O’Connell) gets caught behind enemy lines after being separated from his unit and must escape the provisional militia while determining which loyalist allies he can trust.

We have a range of items influenced by the film for sale, as well as genuine props taken from the set.

Colchester Militaria however not the biggest supplier to the film but we are pleased to have provided a small selection of items bought by Columbia Pictures.

Film synopsisIn April 1945, the Allies are making their final push in the European theater. A battle-hardened Army sergeant named Don "Wardaddy" Collier (Brad Pitt), leading a Sherman tank and a five-man crew, undertakes a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Hopelessly outnumbered, outgunned and saddled with an inexperienced soldier (Logan Lerman) in their midst, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds as they move to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

Colchester Militaria assisted in giving both advice and hired equipment to the casting of this rebuild of Dads Army.

Dad’s Army may not have seemed the most obvious candidate for a big screen resurrection, but if it seemed like an unnecessary endeavour, the pitch-perfect casting announcement led many to suspend their cynicism and give it a chance. Perhaps Dad’s Army, much like the regiment it features, could turn out to be an unlikely hero?

Here at Colchester Militaria we were lucky enough to have supplied some real Dunkirk artefacts to Dombey Street Productions.

Evacuation of Allied soldiers from the British Empire, and France, who were cut off and surrounded by the German Army from the beaches and harbour of Dunkirk, France, between May 26- June 04, 1940, during Battle of France in World War II.

Colchester Militaria, worked with Netflix on this amazing production. We were able to supply the contestants with some different SOE equipment and props.

The past and present collide in this series steeped in history. Fourteen contestants go through the same rigorous four-day selection process that Britain's top-secret World War II spies endured. The recruits travel to a remote estate and train on using weapons like guns and explosives, as well as training in hand-to-hand combat. As the education continues, physical obstacles take their toll on the contestants, who are eliminated throughout the competition. The final six recruits face the Final Scheme, a 24-hour rehearsal mission that calls upon every skill the would-be spies have learned.
